My Greatest Olympic Prize

Jesse Owens is a great  short-distance runner and an Olympic champion. Here he tells of a personal exprience at the 1936 Olympic Games held in Berlin.About that time Hitler was preaching his theory of ' master race'.     Owens had trained a lot and focused on the long jump. When the time came for the long jump he surprised to see a tall boy hitting the pit almost twenty six feet on his practice leaps. He was German named LuzLong.Owens hated this boy, and made mistakes. He kicked disgustedly at the ground. Then he felt a hand on his shoulder. It was LuzLong he introduced himself. He asked about the trouble in Owens' mind and gave some instructions. He suggested drawing a line few inches behind the board and aim at making his take off from there. Owens qualified the practice. They spent the night talking. In the next day Luz broke his tecord. When Owens set the Olympic record Luz congratulated his sincerly. This incidence tells us that all Germans didn't believe in theory of Hitler.Owen quote the words of Pierre de Coubertin that ''the important thing in the Olympic games is not winning but taking part. The essencial thing in life is not conquering but fighting well
